The Friends In Need Project

Friends In Need is a new community reuse programme by Rubislaw Furniture Solutions, to help those less fortunate.

The proposition is simple, when you buy a new sofa or armchair, the old one may still have years of life left in it.


A commonly cited estimate is that the UK discards around 670,000 tonnes of furniture every year equivalent to roughly 22 million pieces of furniture annually. Much of this material is sent to landfill or other low-value disposal routes, despite a significant proportion being reusable or repairable.

Rather than send to landfill we work with several trusted charity partners to help this pre loved furniture reach those who desperately need support furnishing their homes at no cost.

The initiative is managed through our charity partners, Rubislaw Furniture Solutions does not distribute furniture directly to the public, and cannot accept individual requests for free furniture.

This keeps the process fair, respectful, and properly managed, while giving great furniture a new life to those in need.
